WIOA President Award

  • Description:

The WIOA president awards for outstanding E-poster presentations at the 2025 WIOC/VAO congress. This recognition encourages the continued development in research and clinical cases.

Submitted abstracts will be evaluated, and the top posters (15 for original research; 15 for clinical cases) will be announced as finalists. These finalists will be entitled to present during the congress in front of judges. Three winners will be selected: 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place for each category (research or clinical case report). The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive awards of 2000 USD, 1000 USD, and 500 USD, respectively..

The allotted presentation time will be five minutes for the summary and two minutes for Q&A with the judges. Only the submitting author will present and receive a certificate.

Failure to confirm the author’s availability to present at the specified time will disqualify the nomination, and it will be replaced by the next highest-ranking candidate..

  • Eligibility:

Author must be in the orthodontic field either a resident/post-graduate student or young orthodontist under 40 years of age.

  • Abstract Submission Rules:

E- posters must represent the original work or clinical case of the submitter. The submitter must be the primary researcher, although the studies may have been conducted under the direction of a senior investigator. Studies may be prospective or retrospective clinical studies or controlled laboratory research. Literature review papers that do not include original work are not eligible.

Abstracts must be submitted via the online abstract submission portal only. Abstracts will be reviewed as submitted by the abstract deadline. No changes to the abstract text, including correcting typographical errors, incorrect data, etc., will be permitted after this date.

Abstracts must be submitted with the formatting as stipulated in these Guidelines or they will not be accepted: The abstract format must include: Title, Objectives, Methods, Results (data and statistical analysis [where appropriate] and Conclusions. Abstract format for clinical case presentation (CCPA) must include: Title, Introduction, Case description, Discussion, Conclusion/Clinical significance.

Authors may more than one abstract. Submitting the same abstract by two different authors will result in both being excluded. Abstracts of unfinished research will not be evaluated. Previously published abstracts (in print or in any electronic format) or those presented at another meeting are not accepted. The submitting author must disclose any potential personal or co-author conflicts of interest. A plagiarized abstract will be disqualified.

For any accepted abstract, the poster format previously submitted in JPG/PNG/PDF format will be used for poster display for the duration of the event. Any updated poster should be submitted within two weeks from the date of the acceptance email.

  • Poster presentations should be self-contained and self-explanatory.
  • The abstract title should be emphasized at the top of the poster with author(s) and affiliation(s).
  • Content should flow from left to right and be oriented vertically (Portrait)
  • Disclosure information relevant to the work should be provided.
  • Poster presentations should not contain any of the following: commercial logos, company names, brand or proprietary drug names.
  • Each E-Poster must be submitted as a single page PDF document with a size of 3840 pixels (Height) x 2160 pixels (Width) in Vertical/Portrait Orientation
